Chris Daughtry Reveals His Daughter Hannah Price Died by Suicide
Chris Daughtry’s daughter Hannah Price killed herself while under the influence of drugs, her family revealed Wednesday.
Price, 25, was found dead in her home in Northern Tennessee in November, but her cause of death had been a mystery until now, with the family asking people to “please just stop” circulating rumors that her death had been a homicide. Chris and Deanna Daughtry said in a statement on Wednesday that their daughter had found herself in abusive relationships as an adult and often turned to narcotics to paper over her pain.
The years leading up to Hannah’s death had beaten her down, according to her family. Her biological father Randall Price—she was Deanna’s child from a previous relationship—died by suicide in 2018. The same year, she was shot in the face during an encounter with gang members and temporarily went blind.
“We did everything we could to support her and get her the help she needed to recover from these tragedies and get her life back on track,” Chris and Deanna wrote. Price had struggled since childhood with mental illness and had been “in and out of therapy and treatment centers” for many years, they said.
They waited until now to make the statement to give time for “a full investigation by law enforcement.”
“Hannah was a generous and loving person who wanted more for herself and others. She will forever be in the hearts and minds of those of us who love her,” Chris and Deanna wrote.
The morning of her death on Nov. 12, Price had called her parents “in fear of her life,” saying her boyfriend, Bobby Jolly, had physically abused her and taken her car. Chris and Deanna called 911. When officers arrived, however, they did not find Price to be under threat. She and Jolly had been arrested together in a road rage incident involving a gun in April.
Jolly would later be the one to find Price’s body and call the authorities.
In the aftermath, speculation swirled about Jolly and his potential involvement in Price’s death. But friends and relatives insisted to The Daily Beast that Jolly couldn’t have had anything to do with it.
Savanna Adkins, whose sister Skylar has a child with Jolly, said, “I don’t believe Bobby would do that. He never hurt any of my family. He’s hurt himself before.”
And Amber Scott, a friend of Jolly’s, said Jolly “would more likely kill himself before he would kill somebody else.”
“He once hung himself in a tree, this happened probably three years ago,” Scott told The Daily Beast. “And his girlfriend ended up finding him, and saved his life… He’s been real angry. I remember hearing him talk a lot about wanting to die, himself.”
Jolly was arrested the same day Price’s body was found, but his arrest was not in connection with Price’s death. The Knoxville Medical Examiners Office found no evidence of foul play.
Daughtry wrote on Instagram at the time, “I am absolutely devastated and heartbroken… We never got to say goodbye to our precious Hannah and it’s another huge hit to our family.”

(WJW) – Singer Chris Daughtry and his family have shared the cause of death of his daughter, 25-year-old Hannah Price.
The family sent a statement to PEOPLE and several other outlets Wednesday, saying that Price died from suicide while under the influence of narcotics.
She was found dead at a home in Fentress County, Tennessee, on Nov. 12.
The family’s statement said Price struggled with mental illness since a young age and spent years in and out of therapy and treatment centers. Hannah Price lost her biological father when he took his life in 2018.
“Just months after losing her biological father to suicide, Hannah was the victim of a crime and was shot in the face,” according to the statement, which was also obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. “We did everything we could to support her and get her the help she needed to recover from these tragedies and get her life back on track. We had just recently made plans with Hannah for her to seek further treatment and move closer to the family.”
The statement went on to say that Price reached out to her family the day of her death, saying that she feared for her life after her boyfriend allegedly abused her physically.
When police got to the scene, Price told them that she was “OK.” Her boyfriend later found her dead and called 911, PEOPLE reported.
“We ask for your continued privacy at this time while we grieve. If you or a loved one is experiencing mental health, abuse, or addiction problems, please seek help immediately,” the family said in the statement.
Reports initially suggested that her death was a homicide but, at the time, District Attorney General Jared Effler said it had been too premature and “irresponsible” to consider the ruling.
Daughtry had been on tour at the time of Hannah’s death, leading the band to postpone all of their shows.
