Courteney Cox Says There Was ‘Nothing Worse’ Than Her Infamous Scream 3 Baby Bangs
Courteney Cox looks back on the Scream franchise with many fond memories. But if there’s one thing she regrets from her time shooting the hit horror films, it’s the baby bangs her character Gale Weathers infamously sported in Scream 3.
During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show with Scream costars Neve Campbell and David Arquette (also Cox’s ex-husband), the actress opened up about crafting a different signature look for Gale each film.

“Each Scream I would try to come up with a different look for her that was just over the top gross, or ugly or too much,” Cox, 57, told host Drew Barrymore, who famously starred in the OG Scream’s opening slasher scene.
Campbell, 48, jumped in saying, “The bangs?”

The fringe she referenced were the super-short baby bangs Cox wore throughout the third installment of Scream — a beauty look that still haunts her to this day.
“Oh that was the worst. I forgot about that. There was nothing worse. That was a big lesson in life because that will forever be on film,” Cox said.
However, the bangs weren’t actually Cox’s natural hair; the actress wore clip-in bangs each day of shooting, but the problem was that the crew “only had one set” to work with.
“One set of bangs. I remember they were cut on the set. You are supposed to have a thing that starts back here, far back and that’s where the part goes for the bangs,” Cox explained as she pointed to the back of the head where the faux bang should be placed. “For some reason, they put it here [pointing toward the center of her head] and started cutting it and I was like, ‘Well I don’t have a choice now.’”
Looking back on the day Cox stepped out with the freshly cut faux bangs, Campbell remembered trying to politely convince her that they looked okay. “I remember that day because we were all like, ‘No they are good, really,’” she said with a laugh.
Arquette, 50, added, “I felt so bad for you!”
On Halloween 2020, Cox poked fun at herself by recreating her Gale Weathers Scream 3 look complete with short baby bangs. “Not the bangs!!!!!!!! 😱😱😱,” she captioned a selfie with someone standing in a Ghost Face costume behind her and holding scissors up to her fringe.
In Feb. 2019, Arquette, who was married to Cox from 1999 to 2013, admitted the infamous hairstyle was his idea.
The actor left a cheeky comment on an Instagram meme that read, “If you ever feel like s—, just remember Courteney Cox’s hair in Scream 3.”

“We had a daughter out of it and she’s the greatest thing in my life,” Arquette, 50, said of Coco, the 17-year-old daughter he shares with ex-wife Cox. “So that really is the most impactful thing that has ever happened to me in this business.”
Campbell, 48, replied, “I mean this movie gave me everything, it was a springboard I think for all of us. Its success really helped pave the way for all of us in our careers and my life would be very, very different without Scream.”
As for Cox, 57, the Friends star hilariously pointed out that Scream had a much more tangible effect on her life.
“Well besides the obvious I will not go to the bathroom in a movie theater or just about any sports arena,” she said. “I always look underneath and prefer just not to go. I will not go into a parking lot by myself and if I do my heart is racing and I am constantly looking.”

The reboot is the first film in the franchise that will not be directed by Wes Craven, who died of a brain tumor at age 76 in 2015.
Arquette and Cox met while filming the original Scream film, which premiered in 1997. They married in 1999 and welcomed Coco in 2004.
Arquette reflected on his experience returning to the franchise with Cox, his ex-wife, in an interview with The New York Times, published Thursday. He and Cox, who divorced in 2013, also played a couple in the Scream franchise, but much like in real life, their characters have split in the latest film.
While Cox told the Times she had “no apprehensions” and was “happy” to film the new Scream movie, Arquette said he was reminded of the former couple’s past.
“It’s been 25 years of our lives,” he said. “We’ve grown up together. We have a child together,” referring to the former couple’s 17-year-old daughter, Coco.

Arquette said that ultimately, filming the new Scream movie with Cox was freeing, telling the Times, “It’s a cathartic experience to just be able to act opposite Courteney.”
Arquette reprises his role as Dewey Riley in the latest film, while Cox returns as reporter Gale Weathers.

Cox told the Times that she noticed her ex-husband became emotional while returning to set and filming Scream, explaining, “He said the next day the crew didn’t look at him.”
Arquette agreed, adding, “I could tell some people aren’t comfortable with that level of emotion.”
‘Scream’ pairs original cast members and new stars to refresh the formula
]
(CNN) Always meta in its nods to the genre’s quirks, the latest “Scream” is so self-referential as to risk swallowing its own tail. Yet this quarter-century-later “requel” (a term specifically explained in the movie) turns out to be a great deal of fun, cleverly wedding familiar faces with new stars in what isn’t exactly a remake or reboot but rather plays like a refresh.
Horror has been one of the more reliable subgenres during the pandemic, but the current Omicron wave has complicated the calculus. Still, wherever people wind up seeing this designed-to-please slasher movie – even if that’s minus a crowd – it should possess a healthy shelf life.
Half the battle was won, in hindsight, during the casting, tapping Melissa Barrera ( “In the Heights” ), Jenna Ortega (“Stuck in the Middle”) and Jack Quaid ( “The Boys”) for key roles among the younger contingent, while bringing back Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette in their original roles.
The trick comes in replicating elements of the original by the late director Wes Craven (to whom the movie’s dedicated) and writer Kevin Williamson – a horror flick that actually runs down the rules for surviving a horror flick, then watches the characters break them anyway – updating that by overlaying the new on the old.
All that’s achieved, fairly impressively, while simultaneously lampooning the original, its three sequels and that 25-year relationship with the audience, but still treating it with a level of every-detail-counts earnestness generally reserved for movies with superheroes or spaceships. Plus, there are plenty of references to recent horror movies, their varying levels of ambition and where “Scream” fits in.

Courteney Cox’s Plastic Surgery: Everything The ‘Scream’ Star Has Said About Having Work Done
]
Courteney Cox has been very open about her experience with plastic surgery over the years & we have everything you need to know about what work she has gotten done.
Courteney Cox has always been beautiful, however, as she has aged, the actress has undergone plastic surgery and has been very open about it. Being an actress in Hollywood could be tough, but it is super refreshing when celebrities like Courteney are candid about the work they got done over the years. Below, we have everything you need to know regarding what Courteney has shared about her treatments and experience.
Has She Had Plastic Surgery?
Yes, she has. Courteney has admitted to getting fillers in her face and shared that aging in Hollywood is tough, as she revealed to New Beauty in 2017, “Hollywood makes it hard; this business makes it harder. I grew up thinking appearance was the most important thing. That as long as I looked OK, I would be OK, which got me into trouble.”
When Did She Start?
After Courteney starred as the iconic TV character, Monica Geller on Friends, she began to get fillers. She admitted to People, that she got plastic surgery because she “wasn’t pleased with myself and the way I looked.” She continued, “I tried to keep up with time in a way that was anything other than maintenance.”
Courteney also went into detail with New Beauty regarding how she started, saying, “Well, what would end up happening is that you go to a doctor who would say, ‘You look great, but what would help is a little injection here or filler there.’ So you walk out and you don’t look so bad and you think, no one noticed—it’s good.”
“Then somebody tells you about another doctor: ‘This person’s amazing. They do this person who looks so natural.’ You meet them and they say, ‘You should just do this.’ The next thing you know, you’re layered and layered and layered,” she revealed.
Why Did She Stop?
Courteney admitted to stopping once friends told her she wasn’t looking like herself. She told New Beauty back in 2017 that you don’t notice what the results are while you’re undergoing plastic surgery until someone points it out. “You have no idea because it’s gradual until you go, ‘Oh s**t, this doesn’t look right.’ And it’s worse in pictures than in real life. I have one friend who was like, ‘Whoa, no more!’ I thought, I haven’t done anything in six months. I didn’t realize,” she told New Beauty.
It wasn’t just her friends that made her stop, but also seeing herself in photos. “I’d see pictures and think, ‘Oh, is that what I look like?’ And I’d ask a friend and they’d say, ‘Oh God, no.’ And I never thought of myself as being delusional. I think photographs do show up worse, so when people in the world see you and write comments that are usually mean, I think, ‘It can be worse than what it really is,’” she said. Courteney even went on to say, “I was trying so hard to keep up, and that actually made things worse. Now, I’m as natural as I can be.”
