New year, new host, and new hair for Bowen Yang were on the table in the promo for Saturday Night Live’s first show of 2022.

Actress Ariana DeBose, who plays Anita in the updated version of West Side Story, will be the first host of the new year. The Tony Award nominee is making her SNL debut.

Joining her will be musical guest Bleachers, who are subbing for rapper Roddy Ricch because of the latter’s Covid-19 exposure.

In the first promo, DeBose is joined by Jack Antonoff of Bleachers and Yang, who is complimented on his new white hair and “new you.” Of course, he’s not all-in on the “new” horizons of the year, as he confesses.

The second promo finds DeBose and Yang talking about the possible origin of Bleachers name, which is not well-received by Antonoff.

During Joe Millionaire: For Richer or Poorer Thursday night, while on a one-on-one date with one of the bachelors, Steven, things got serious when 29-year-old contestant Jennie Alexandra revealed a major confession about her past. Jennie was nervous to share her story with Steven as she admitted, “It’s crazy, I’m usually guarded. I want to tell him, kind of, everything, and it’s weird doing that and not knowing someone that well. You don’t know what they’re gonna say or how they’re gonna react to it.” However, Steven encouraged her and told her she was going to be fine. Jennie then told Steven, “I am, like, a victim of, like, sex trafficking. It happened six years ago, and we finally had trial four years after. Judge came back in my favor. It was a $13 million judgment and 20-year sentencing. And so that was, like, the most rewarding thing ever.” Jenny, who is an attorney now, went on to share, “I wouldn’t be okay with myself if I didn’t at least try to do something about it, because it was, like, I can’t not do anything. And know in the back of my head, oh, they’re probably gonna do this to like other women. ‘Cause not only, like, stuff was put online. I mean, I was harassed.” Fortunately, Steven, who just last week during the premiere had to awkwardly send one contestant home early following an uncomfortable conversation, didn’t feel uncomfortable about this conversation at all. Steven told Jennie, “I can assure you, it has absolutely zero bearing on anything that we would have moving forward of how I feel about you. In fact, I can’t imagine having the strength to have to carry that burden. And from what I can tell thus far, you are a pretty damn amazing woman.” Viewers took to social media praising Jennie for her bravery in sharing her story and also Steven for how he responded and, ultimately, Jennie’s honesty and vulnerability made Steven fall for her even more. “I can’t imagine a better date, especially a better first date. After tonight, my connection with Jennie is at an entirely new level, and I’m really excited to see what’s to come” said Steven.

Chris Pine Is Unrecognizable With Teeny-Tiny Ponytail On Coffee Run: Photos

Is it a Hemsworth or Brad Pitt or David Beckham — it’s so hard to tell! Just kidding, we know it’s Chris Pine, and we are loving his new, casual look.

Move over, Brad Pitt! You and your teeny-tiny ponytail have some competition! Chris Pine, 41, stepped out in quite the outfit to grab some coffee on Tuesday, Jan. 11. The Star Trek super star wore a black zip-up hoodie paired with running shorts over black leggings and] sandals to stop by the Blue Bottle Coffee cafe in Los Feliz to pick up a coffee.

But let’s get back to the hair — don’t you love it?! And we’ve all been there too right; your hair’s in this wild in-between, too short for a proper pony but too long to leave it down without it being in your face all the time. But pretty soon, Chris will be able to pull off the ever attractive man bun, like Justin Bieber. Honestly, it doesn’t matter what he does with his hair; he’ll always just look hot!

And in all honesty, it’s just nice to see him! Chris has been hard at work through the pandemic on some highly anticipated new projects, including a movie version of the game Dungeons & Dragons, and the next installment of the Star Trek franchise, where he plays Captain Kirk. But it’s been close to 2 year since we’ve seen the movie star in a, well, actual movie! His last flick to delight fans was Wonder Woman 1984 (never forget the fanny pack!) with Gal Gadot.

But my question is: which role did he grow the beard for? If you look closely at our rare sighting of Mr. Pine, you’ll notice quite the scruffy beard beneath his mask. Could time have gotten the better of James T. Kirk? Or could it be for something else. Now, if it wasn’t such a rare occurrence to see Chris out and about, we might have a better guess!

Regardless, 2022 is already looking like the year for hair makeovers for all kinds of stars. Jennifer Aniston is letting her hair go all frizzy; Bowen Yang is starting off the new year going platinum; but no one can touch Demi Lovato and the changes they’ve made to their look!

Ariana DeBose On Her SAG Nom For Steven Spielberg’s ‘West Side Story’: “This Nomination Is Not Just For My Work, But For Who I am”

Rita Moreno is the first Latinx actress to win an Oscar. It was her performance in Jerome Robbins and Robert Wise 1961 film of West Side Story as Anita that garnered her the win. Since Moreno’s historic win, there has only been nine Latina actresses nominated for an Academy Award, and Ariana DeBose may just be the tenth–and a shoe in to win.

DeBose was nominated for a SAG award for Outstanding Performance by a supporting actress, and she manifested this moment. “It’s not that you don’t believe something different could happen for you, but you put it out in the world, and then a great opportunity comes”

It’s been a long road for DeBose who started as a dancer, but wanted to be the best at being a singer and an actress. That hard work and perseverance is how the actress ended up here. “I changed my goal and I said, I would like to make movies on a large scale. I want to be considered an actor,” DeBose said. “I started out as a dancer and then I began to sing and it took me a while to be comfortable calling myself a singer. Soon I changed my focus again to acting and here I am.”

Becoming an actress is one thing, becoming an actress who stars in a film by legendary director Stephen Spielberg is a whole different level of success DeBose didn’t anticipate. “Some days I had to pinch myself, but it’s the hardest I’ve ever worked on a project. Steven Spielberg sets are huge. We all were so excited to come to work and make this work with Steven. He treated us like collaborators. “

As DeBose said, sets are its own ecosystem because of their vastness, which is in stark contrast to the actress’s theater background. “Film is a lot of hurry-up and wait, which is still a fascinating experience. In the theater, you put on your costume, go on stage until the story is told, and then you take off your costume, you go home and then you come back and you do it over,” she said. Unless you’re reshooting a scene in movies, you don’t revisit it. And that’s that.”

Taking on the role of Anita was not a small order for DeBose. She understood when taking on the role that there was the responsibility of representing vulnerable parts of herself. “I am aware of the fact that I do represent so many people. I’m extremely proud of it. I’ll still say what needs to be said in a way that represents us beautifully. This SAG nomination, not only a recognition of my work as an artist, but also of who I am: a Queer, Afro-Latina. Identity matters.”

She continues, “I didn’t even know that being Afro-Latino could be a thing because most of the women I saw on screen didn’t look like me. That is why I put everything that I had into this character, because I did know that ultimately there would be some young woman out there or a little girl who would potentially see it and understand that their experiences are valid.”

DeBose’s next venture is sketch comedy making her debut on NBC’s Saturday Night Live host with Live Life Fast pop star Roddy Ricch set as musical guest. The actress also stars as Emma in Lorne Michaels Apple musical comedy series Schmigadoon!
