NBA great Dwyane Wade’s startling prediction about sport’s GOAT debate
]
The biggest NBA debate to be had is who the greatest player of all time is. Usually, the debate is among Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain and Magic Johnson.
Dwyane Wade, the former Miami Heat great and current part-owner of the Utah Jazz, predicted that with the way the game is evolving, some of the greats that fans see now will be forgotten.

“These GOATs, these names that we throw out, it’s not gonna just be a lot of those players. But the game continues to keep moving forward. And so we are gonna continue to see things that we have never seen before. And the eyes are gonna get younger and younger,” Wade said on Dax Shepard’s podcast “Armchair Expert.”
“We are not going to have a conversation about the GOATs. Now it’s going to be the younger, younger, younger generation. And they’re gonna forget about Jordan like we forget about Kareem.”

Wade did acknowledge the major difference between Jordan and everyone else. He called Jordan the “first icon in basketball” due to his global appeal and the emergence of the Jordan Brand.

Dwyane Wade Becomes Part Owner of Real Salt Lake Major League Soccer Team • EBONY
]
NBA legend Dwyane Wade announced that he’s a part of the ownership group of MLS’s Real Salt Lake, Sports Illustrated reports.
The financial terms of Wade’s investment into the soccer team were not disclosed.
Wade joins an ownership group that includes David Blitzer and partners at Smith Entertainment Group. He becomes the latest current or former NBA player involved in MLS ownership joining the likes of James Harden (Houston Dynamo), Steve Nash (Vancouver Whitecaps), Kevin Durant (Philadelphia Union), and Magic Johnson (LAFC).
Wade took to Twitter to announce his involvement with the team.
“Excited to join the soccer world and be part of @realsaltlake alongside my partners at Smith Entertainment Group @RyanQualtrics and @ryanjsweeney,” his tweet read. “Let’s go!”
Last Wednesday, the MLS board of governors approved the sale of Real Salt Lake to David Blitzer and the Smith Entertainment Group. In addition to the soccer team, the deal also includes Rio Tinto Stadium, the RSL Academy, the MLS Next Pro team Real Monarchs, and the club’s Zions Bank Training Center.
Previously, the team was owned by Dell Loy Hansen who put the team up for sale in August 2020 after racist comments he made came to light. From there, the league oversaw the sales process of the team in January 2021 because the team could not procure a buyer.
Joining Real Salt Lake’s ownership group is the latest move by Wade to expand his business portfolio. Back in April, Wade bought an ownership stake with the Utah Jazz. Also, Zaire Wade, Wade’s son currently plays with the Salt Lake City Stars, the G-League affiliate of the Utah Jazz Salt.

In their three games, they are averaging 107.7 points per game and have been led by Carsen Edwards.

What to know about Amari Bailey, a UCLA signee who will play in 2022 Tournament of Champions
]
The highest-ranked player at the 2022 Bass Pro Tournament of Champions will participate with Sierra Canyon starting Thursday at JQH Arena.
Amari Bailey, who is a five-star combo guard and is ranked as the No. 2 senior in the country, will excite fans over the three-day event.
Bailey is already being touted as a future NBA player and is one that should be maybe the most entertaining player to watch during the tournament.
Here’s what you should know about him:
Amari Bailey signed to play at UCLA
Bailey has had an interesting path to ultimately deciding he wanted to be a Bruin.
Before he even touched a high school court, the Chicago native committed to DePaul before walking back on the commitment. As a freshman, Bailey committed to UCLA a few months later under then-head coach and former Missouri State head coach Steve Alford. He de-committed eight months later.
2022 BASS PRO TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS
Bailey then took a few years to assess his options instead of rushing his recruitment at such an early age. He moved to California to attend Sierra Canyon and his spotlight grew while playing next to Bronny James and Zaire Wade — the sons of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.
In February 2021, Bailey decided UCLA was where he wanted to be all along as he re-committed to the Bruins who are now led by head coach Mick Cronin.
Bailey also held offers from Kansas, Alabama and DePaul before sticking with UCLA.

Amari Bailey is already touted as an NBA player
When you’re one of the top recruits in the country, you’re going to be in the conversation for being an NBA draft pick within a few years — if not just one.
Bailey is getting that NBA buzz as a combo guard with his length and athleticism. He’s explosive and is quick while being able to score from everywhere.
Bailey’s 247Sports comparison is Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson — who is the NBA’s reigning Sixth Man of the Year and signed a four-year deal worth $52 million over the offseason.
The sky’s the limit for Bailey and it wouldn’t be a surprise if his name joins the Tournament of Champions banners that showcase the other NBA players who have participated in the tournament.
You want Amari Bailey to participate in all of the dunk contests
Anywhere there’s a dunk contest, you’re going to want Bailey to participate. Luckily for the Tournament of Champions, it has an annual dunk contest with a nice trophy Bailey should try to win.
Bailey is a ridiculous athlete for the Trailblazers and is capable of throwing down some nasty dunks during games and when the pressure is on during a contest.
There are numerous videos of Bailey dunking on YouTube with hundreds of thousands of views. He’ll go under the legs and posterize opponents who decide to get in his way.
Amari Bailey is the son of a former Indianapolis Colts football player
Bronny isn’t the only one on Sierra Canyon whose father played at the professional level.
Bailey’s dad, Aaron Bailey, played for the Indianapolis Colts from 1994-98 and caught 67 passes for 1,040 yards and six touchdowns over his career.
Aaron Bailey might be best known for the final play of the 1995 AFC Championship game when the Colts trailed the Steelers 20-16 with time for one more play. Colts quarterback Jim Harbaugh threw a pass that tipped off a Steelers safety and onto Bailey’s chest as he fell to the ground. The ball appeared to hit the turf and was ruled incomplete.
TMZ recently reported Amari Bailey bought his mom a Porsche
If you’re a parent of a high school student, think about what they got you for Christmas. And then think about how you went wrong raising them because it probably doesn’t compare to the gift Bailey got his mother.
TMZ reported that the high school guard bought his mother a 2022 Porsche Cayenne — which is estimated to cost around $70,000. The website assumes that Bailey took advantage of the NCAA’s name image and likeness rules to pay for the vehicle.
His mother, Johanna Leia, is a model and former reality star. She is well-known for previously dating rapper Drake.

Is Puma’s Signing of Romeo Beckham a Flawed Social Media Play for a Brand Doing Well Across the Board?
Spread the love
Kick it like Beckham! Just before Christmas last year we have signed our partnership with Romeo Beckham. The 19-year-old will be wearing our PUMA FUTURE Z 1.2 football boots. Romeo is currently preparing for his second season in professional football after signing with Fort Lauderdale CF, a USL League One side and reserve affiliate of Inter Miami CF. His passion and commitment to the game is complemented by his energy and style off the pitch and the combination is something that PUMA are excited to be part of. Stay tuned for more news on Romeo!
Source: INTRODUCING THE NEXT GENERATION: PUMA SIGNS ROMEO BECKHAM AS LATEST PUMA FUTURE Z ATHLETE – PUMA CATch up
Puma nabbed one of the biggest social media stars. Had the quote stopped there, this would be a discussion on influencer marketing and how Puma’s real work in football, and in every other aspect of sport, is more influential than signing the son of one of the greatest soccer players of all time, David Beckham. David Beckham, who just so happens to be one of the faces of adidas soccer even after retiring in 2013, is married to Reebok-sponsored Victoria Beckham.
While it is impressive to have three members of the same family signed to three different brands, could Puma be reaching for something it doesn’t need? Puma has Neymar Jr. That’s a win by itself for the brand in the sport. Instead, Puma announced the signing of Romeo Beckham with a reference to the famous “Bend it” tagline connecting father to son in a way that simply hasn’t worked very well for any legacy athlete in any sport.
Athletes who are the sons of famous fathers are often lost in comparison and in many instances, it staunches the growth of the player. Consider Michael Jordan’s sons. Neither grew to the same heights as their famous dad and both had average college careers. The constant comparisons to their father happened in ugly ways with the University of Central Florida having to lose their adidas sponsorship because they recruited the son of MJ. A current problem with legacy in sport is Zaire Wade, son of D Wade. His father is not only a part of the Heatles and a three-time NBA champion who will be a hall of famer, but in assigning Zaire to the G League franchise, fans have complained about nepotism for the kid. Looking down the line of amazing, superstar athletes and at their children finds almost every instance falling short of the parent’s glory. Those parents who were signature athletes the shortcomings of the child’s games have been stressed to a point where many of the children of superstar athletes walk away from the game altogether. What’s worse is the media isn’t kind: Top 15 Talentless Children of Legendary Athletes (thesportster.com)
Puma has been killing it in every aspect of business. While it makes sense to nab a kid with over 3 million followers on IG, maybe building a brand here could backfire for both the athlete and the brand, or am I overthinking this? Could Romeo go on to become half of what his father was? If every example of a superstar athlete and their parent looks like the list above, the precedent isn’t a good one.
