Iskra Lawrence says she’s struggling to feel ‘comfortable shooting in lingerie’ after becoming a mom

Iskra Lawrence is sharing a message about struggling with her identity now that she’s a mother.
The model, 31, took to Instagram on Tuesday to share several photos of herself in jeans a bodysuit — which included one particularly “cheeky” pic. Lawrence wrote in the caption that it’s been a challenge to get back to these more provocative poses. Lawrence welcomed her first child, a son, with her partner Philip Payne in April 2020.
“I hate that this was so hard to post. I swear becoming a mom comes with so much more guilt and self doubt than I ever imagined,” she wrote. “I’ve been a model for 18years. Swim and lingerie modeling will always be my career - being comfortable shooting my body and confident in my sexuality has always been natural. But now — being a mom I feel this expectation to be fully clothed, change the way I pose and be careful of my ‘image’ everyday.”
She added, “being proud of my curves, comfortable shooting lingerie and swimwear and posting whatever I want doesn’t mean I’m not a great mother.”
“All the parts, past and present aren’t mutually exclusive. I can be all of me and so can you,” she continued. “If you’re struggling as a new mom, seasoned mom, career woman or none of the above, but still feel this shame about showing / being confident in your body this is your reminder that you have full authority of your life and no one else or their expectations can change that.”
Despite Lawrence’s initial reservations to post these photos, she received plenty of love in the comments section. One follower wrote, “You are so gorgeous and that beautiful body made another human!” Another added, “As a [42-year-old] working mom of two we are all just doing what we think is best for our family. Do what’s right for [you]. You know what that is in your gut. As for showing off your figure. I beg you to. You are stunning! You are a goddess and ANYONE who tries to say otherwise is just threatened by your energy!”

This isn’t the first time that the model has addressed this particular issue. In July 2021, she shared a message on Instagram about changing her behavior in order to be perceived as a good role model.
“Sometimes I miss how comfortable in my sexuality I was,” Lawrence wrote at the time. “How unashamed I was of nudity and posing provocatively but in an unforced natural way. I shut myself off from a lot of things when I grew a platform, started to feel the pressure of people holding me to a ‘role model’ standard and expecting me to be the perfect polite well rehearsed human.”
She said she feels the pressure to be “socially acceptable” online, but now is trying to “re-find the lost parts” of herself.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is apologizing for saying the unvaccinated have less freedom than Anne Frank did. He’s faced backlash for his comments, made at an anti-vax rally Sunday in Washington, D.C., with his wife, Curb Your Enthusiasm actress Cheryl Hines, distancing herself from his remarks. “I apologize for my reference to Anne Frank, especially to families that suffered the Holocaust horrors,” the environmental lawyer and anti-vaccine activist wrote on Twitter Tuesday. “My intention was to use examples of past barbarism to show the perils from new technologies of control. To the extent my remarks caused hurt, I am truly and deeply sorry.”

YouTuber and crafter Melanie Ham, who was well-known for the stories about her art and personal life she shared on social media, has died at the age of 36.
According to posts shared to her social media accounts, which were published by her husband Robert Ham, Ham passed away from cancer on 12 January.
“It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness I share the news of the passing of my sweet, amazing, beautiful wife Melanie,” the caption of the Instagram post reads. “If you’ve been following our journey I’m sure you were, like us, hopeful she could defeat this insidious disease.”
Robert noted in the caption that he and his wife were only nine days away from their 16-year anniversary before her death. He praised the nurses, doctors, and his family who helped Ham fight “until the end” of her cancer battle.
“Melanie fought like a warrior queen,” he wrote.
“Despite the deep grief my family and I feel today we want to celebrate an amazing woman and a life well-lived,” he added. “She loved passionately, created beautifully, provided abundantly and was my best friend all the way to the end.”
The influencer’s husband then detailed how loved she was by her family and friends, before encouraging her more than 46,000 Instagram followers to “put up a toast of bourbon” in her honour, since it was her favourite drink.
On January 15, a post about her funeral details was shared on Instagram. “A celebration of Life In loving memory of Melanie Ham” was planned for 22 January at Crossroad Community Church in Valencia, California,” the caption of the post read, adding that “colourful attire was encouraged”.
Ham’s YouTube channel, which has more than 810,000 subscribers, features crocheting, quilting, and sewing tutorial videos. Her final video, posted in April of last year, was a beginner’s guide for people learning how to crochet.

Back in November 2020, Ham posted a video about her cancer, where she revealed that she was still living with a tumour in her body.
The YouTuber noted that she had epithelioid angiomyolipoma, a rare type of sarcoma, which is a term for “a group of cancers that begin in the bones and in the soft tissues,” according to the Mayo Clinic .
Prior to her death, the influencer frequently discussed her cancer on her social media accounts, with one post shared in August 2020 describing one of her recent surgeries.
Following the news of her death, many of Ham’s Instagram followers have shared their condolences. “This is certainly one person I’ve never met but will really miss. She was and always will be amazing,” one person wrote.
“Anyone who followed her YouTube channel will miss her so much,” another Instagram user wrote. “But, she will live on forever in the people she inspired. Your entire family will forever be in my thoughts and prayer.”
“Such a loss,” another comment reads. “Melanie was a beautiful soul and an amazing teacher. May her memory be a blessing. I know a piece of her will go into every quilt I make.”

The Decemberists are hitting the road in Summer 2022 for their whimsically titled “ARISE FROM THE BUNKERS! TOUR.” Marking their first jaunt since 2018, it essentially serves as a stand-in for their 20th anniversary trek, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kicking off in Bonner, Montana on August 3rd, the North American tour will make stops in cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, New York, and Nashville before wrapping up on August 28th in Atlanta. Brigid Mae Power will serve as the opener for each date.
The band has partnered with PLUS 1 to give $1 from each ticket to supporting organizations that are working to ensure access to reproductive rights for all. See the full itinerary below. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 28th at 10:00 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.
“We’re wiping away the accumulated grime from windows and revealing, for the first time in a very long time, the glimmer of sunlight,” frontman Colin Meloy said in a press statement about the tour. “We see the green dappled leaves, the soughing tree limbs, the pearly clouds dotting a wide sky. Is this re-emergence? Perhaps!”
He continued, “We are proud to announce The Decemberists’ first tour since — god, what was it — 2018, I think. ARISE FROM THE BUNKERS! TOUR 2022. We’ll be applying our rusty fingers, feet, and vocal cords to songs from all across the width and breadth of our catalogue — and, should the muses oblige, we might try a few new ones out as well.”
The Decemberists most recently released their 2018 album I’ll Be Your Girl and EP Traveling On. In 2020, Meloy shared his solo song, “Slint, Spiderland.”
