Skip Bayless Reveals His True Feelings On Johnny Manziel

Once upon a time, Skip Bayless said college star Johnny Manziel would end up becoming a bigger icon in the city of Cleveland than LeBron James. No, we’re not kidding.

Bayless has dealt a ton of crazy takes over the years, but that may top them all. He spoke about it at length on Monday afternoon.

“What was the last debate you lost? It gives me an opportunity to address something that I’ve seen pop up on the internet here of late,” Bayless said on The Skip Bayless Show. “Me saying that Johnny Manziel is going to be even bigger in Cleveland than LeBron James ever was. I debated many people on First Take/Undisputed, on ESPN, about Johnny Manziel. You can say that that wound up being the dumbest thing I ever said. But it really wasn’t.

“You can say I lost all those debates but I really didn’t because yeah I love Johnny, so did a lot of people. I followed closely as he won the Heisman as a redshirt freshman at Texas A&M. There were a lot of people who knew Johnny very well. Stories were legendary on and off the field. … Johnny would’ve been not a good, but a great pro football player.

“… Johnny gave into wanting to party as his priority over wanting to play football. He truly prioritized partying over starring in the NFL. … LeBron was all-time great, but if Johnny had led the Browns to a Super Bowl, which he was highly capable of, trust me, bigger than LeBron.”

There’s no doubt the NFL is king. But basketball tends to be the sport which allows individual players to shine brightest whereas the NFL is far more about the team.

Had Manziel led the Browns to the Super Bowl he would have been a legend, just like LeBron is. But there’s now way in knowing which would’ve meant more to the city of Cleveland.

LeBron James is one of the most accomplished players the NBA has ever seen. As a 17x All-Star, 4x MVP, 6x All-Defensive player, and 4x NBA Champion, he has nothing left to prove when it comes to the game of basketball.

Still, James continues to play with the same intensity he did years ago, seemingly for the goal of winning another Championship.

On Undisputed, Skip Bayless presented an alternative motive. According to him, James is actually just trying to strengthen his GOAT case by catching Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the All-Time scoring list.

“LeBron has been different this year. He has gone from being a defender and the driving force of a team ranked number one in defensive efficiency to ranking 207th in defensive win shares. They have plummeted to the middle of the pack on defense and it’s really costing them. “To me, LeBron’s sole focus has now gone to catching Kareem and resting on the defensive end. LeBron will have his chase-down blocks occasionally and he’ll have a moment of defending but this team goes as he goes on both ends of the floor and I’m sorry but they just don’t play defense. So if LeBron’s acting as GM, he should’ve pushed for fresh, young legs on defense, not Carmelo, Ariza and Westbrick.”

Remember, it was defense that helped the Lakers win the title in 2020. As one of the best defensive teams in the league, the Lakers had a certain way of shutting down their opponents that made them hard to beat.

This season, the Lakers aren’t nearly as effective on that end of the floor. Where it’s Anthony Davis’ absence, roster flaws, or LeBron James’ aging game, the Lakers just aren’t what they used to be.

Meanwhile, King James sits at second on the All-Time scoreboard, still a ways away from catching Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at the top.

If James isn’t going to get another title, at least he can take comfort in inching closer to making history once again.

Skip Bayless Speculates NFL Refs Could Get Revenge Against Dak Prescott By Not Calling Penalties When He’s Hit Illegally

Fox Sports host Skip Bayless isn’t sure Dak Prescott’s apology to NFL officials will be enough to keep referees from retaliating against the Cowboys quarterback.

Following the Cowboys’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers Sunday afternoon, Prescott responded to a question from reporters about fans throwing objects on the field. At first, Prescott called it “sad,” believing the crowd was targeting his teammates.

But once he realized objects were being thrown at referees, the quarterback changed his tune. “Credit to them then,” Prescott said of fans attacking the officials.

“All of a sudden he’s in harms way with the NFL referees,” Bayless said Wednesday morning on Undisputed. “Going forward, after he had taken that kind of shot encouraging fan violence against them…would they not hold this against Dak? And the first time they had an iffy call on roughing the passer, they sort of swallow the whistle and keep the little yellow flag in their pocket?”

After two days of backlash to his comments about NFL officials, Prescott issued an apology via Twitter Tuesday night. But bad blood between Prescott and referees may have already been festered.

“You’re thinking what I’m thinking,” Shannon Sharpe acknowledged to Bayless before further speculating how referees might respond to Prescott. “Did you see a hit to the head? No I didn’t see it either, did you see a low tackle on the quarterback in the pocket? No I didn’t see it either.”

“This is the single worst shot at referees I believe I have ever seen,” Bayless said of Prescott’s remarks.

“Carmelo Anthony just saved Frank Vogel’s job!”: Skip Bayless praises Lakers veteran’s 23 point effort in Purple and Gold team’s comeback win against the Magic

As the Lakers struggled to win against the bottom dwellers from the East, their head coach, Frank Vogel, survives yet another day.

On the back of a shambolic performance against the Pacers, the Los Angeles Lakers started their 6-game road trip on the East Coast with a game against the team with the worst record in the league, the Orlando Magic.

LeBron James and Co started Friday night’s game the way they ended it on Wednesday in LA. They trailed in both the starting quarters and were 8 points behind at the half to a team that has 8 victories in 47 games they have played thus far.

And the whole basketball community, including fans and experts, all were ready to get on the Purple and Gold team’s back. Irrespective of how bad are the players performing, head coach Frank Vogel would again have come under the bus, getting most of the blame if the Lakers ended up with yet another loss.

Lakers trail the the NBA’s worst team, 8-38 Orlando, by 8 at half. As usual they’re playing a lot of dead-headed, don’t-care mannequin D – especially LeBron. Vogel’s job teeters. Can’t see how he survives if they lose this one. — Skip Bayless (@RealSkipBayless) January 22, 2022

Skip Bayless credits Carmelo Anthony for saving Frank Vogel’s job

The Lakers made a sound comeback in the fashion similar to how they gifted most of their 23 losses this season. They outscored the Magic by 15 points in the 3rd quarter and added another 4-points to the lead in the fourth to end the game 116-105 in their favor. And Fox Sports analyst Skip Bayless was quick to state that Carmelo Anthony saved his coach’s job.

Melo finally rediscovered his early-season form and knocked down 4 of his 5 attempts from downtown. He finished with 23 points, while Stanley Johnson and Malik Monk also had double-digit scoring nights with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Russell Westbrook had yet another inefficient game, but it was slightly better than most of the previous ones, scoring 18 points on 17 attempts. LeBron again led from the front and had 29-points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, making it his 16th game with 25-points or more.

The Lakers just after getting back on the .500 mark will now face 4 teams that are well above that mark. Vogel’s side has struggled against a team with a winning record. The coach will be lucky to still have his job after these games.

Skip Bayless Goes Scorched Earth On “Fraud” Mike McCarthy

Skip Bayless is perhaps the most wrong yet outspoken voice in sports media today. Over the last couple of decades, Bayless has made quite the name for himself thanks to his hot takes, and antics while working for shows like First Take and Undisputed. While many find Bayless to be extremely annoying, he is actually quite popular amongst hardcore sports fans who find his takes to be entertaining. If you interpret Bayless as a troll, he is a lot more fun to watch, especially when paired with Shannon Sharpe.

This week, Skip has been in a state of despair as his Dallas Cowboys fell to the San Francisco 49ers in the playoffs. Skip has been looking for answers, and today, he launched an offensive against none other than Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, who hasn’t accomplished much in the two years he has been at the helm.

In the clip below, Skip absolutely unleashed on McCarthy, stating that all he does as a coach is stand on the sidelines and manage the clock in the worst ways imaginable. Bayless believes McCarthy needs to be fired immediately, as the Cowboys will simply slip into further mediocrity if a move isn’t made soon.

“Mike McCarthy got exposed this year. He’s a fraud. He’s an imposter, he’s nothing but a spectator during games,” Bayless said. “Mike McCarthy adds little to nothing to the final product that should’ve been a Cowboys team advancing to play GOAT at GOAT this Sunday.”

For now, the Cowboys seem quite content with McCarthy, which means fans shouldn’t expect any changes, anytime soon. After all, two years typically isn’t enough time for a coach to really find their groove, especially after their QB was injured for the entire first season of their tenure.
