Even if you haven’t seen HBO’s smash hit Euphoria, you’re likely aware of how the show’s bold, jewel-encrusted beauty looks have all but taken over. They’ve inspired a new wave of Euphoria makeup, hair, and nail trends that, in a meta turn of events, have extended to the show’s stars. As Euphoria season two continues to roll out, fans are just as excited to see which looks the actors will wear while promoting the show as they are for the looks to be featured in the episodes. Maude Apatow’s gold hair clips were just one of many noteworthy elements that made up her ‘90s look for recent Euphoria press appearances. Apatow, who plays Lexi Howard on the show and also happens to be the daughter of director Judd Apatow and actor Leslie Mann, looked like she stepped straight out of Clueless — but with a chic, updated twist.

To kick off the new season, Apatow wore her recently chopped bob hairstyle with flipped-out ends and gold hair clips on either side of her center part, giving the look a fun, retro feel. The style was created by hairstylist Kylee Heath, who’s worked with A-listers like Lily Collins and Nicole Kidman. The actor opted for neutral-toned matte makeup courtesy of makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan Fisher.

For the base, Fisher used Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Foundation and Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder before adding a flush of color with Dear Dahlia Paradise Petal Matte Blush in Bare Coral. Apatow’s soft bronze eye was created with shades Daydream, Lady Gray, and Spicy Cacao from the Dear Dahlia Timeless Bloom Collection Palette, and topped off with Pat McGrath Dark Star Volumizing Mascara. Finally, Fisher completed the look with the Dear Dahlia Paradise Dream Velvet Lip Mousse in the shade Button.

The whole look perfectly complemented the Versace mini dress, black tights, and platform loafers that Apatow wore — and definitely amped up the 90s socialite vibe in the most elegant way. Simply put, it was chef’s kiss. To recreate the star’s makeup look for yourself, see below for the products her makeup artist used to bring the glam to life.

WATCH: Are you watching Euphoria season two?

Maude’s mother is actress Leslie Mann and her father is director, producer, and screenwriter Judd Apatow. While Leslie is known for her roles in the comedy films The Cable Guy, George of the Jungle and Blockers, Judd is the comedy mastermind behind many of the funniest Hollywood films, including the Pineapple Express, The 40-Year-Old Virgin and more.

The pair wed back in 1997, and Maude was born the same year. The couple also have a second daughter, Iris, who was born in 2002. Growing up, Maude showed an interest in acting from a young age but was set some boundaries by her famous parents.

“When I was growing up, my parents never let me act in anything that wasn’t with them. And I remember, as a kid, wanting to be on Broadway,” the 24-year-old told Rolling Stone in 2020. “I really wanted to start working. And it was important to my parents that I finished high school and (was) mature enough to be able to handle myself in those situations without them.”

It’s not surprising then that Maude’s first-ever roles were in her father’s films Knocked Up, Funny People and This Is 40, starring as Leslie’s onscreen daughter.

In the same interview, Judd revealed his reasons for only allowing his daughter to work in film projects he was involved in until she was in her late teens. “Both Iris and Maude have gotten really mad at us for wanting them to take their time and try to have a normal life for as long as possible,” he explained. “So our idea was always, ‘You can work with us or with our friends, people who can protect you,’ because sets are a weird place.”

Maude landed her first major film role not involving her father in 2016’s comedy-drama Other People, followed by roles in The House of Tomorrow and Assassination Nation. On the latter of these, she met Euphoria creator Sam Levinson who subsequently wrote the part of Lexi for her.

Lexi and Fez, Sitting in a Tree

Last week’s season premiere of Euphoria introduced an unexpected, though happily embraced, romance. Of course, some people, myself included, have been a fan of Fez (Angus Cloud) for a while, and who doesn’t love Lexi (Maude Apatow)? For a show featuring a lot of big personalities, these two might be the most relatable, even if one of them is a drug dealer who finds himself occasionally carrying a gun or two. So when they found themselves seated next to each other at the New Year’s Eve party, the two most different characters somehow ended up in a deep conversation about God and friendship. It felt innocent and honest, and I blushed hard watching it. They weren’t just getting along, but were flirting! But after a successful conversation and securing Lexi’s number, Fez beat the shit out of Nate, which we loved, but left Lexi looking worried. Did I get my hopes up for nothing?

After this week’s episode and all the drama that unfolded, it’s still hard to tell. Rue’s voice-over finally allows us a peek inside Lexi’s head: “How could Fezco be so kind to her and so violent towards Nate?” she says. “He actually cared about what she had to say, and then ten minutes later, almost beat Nate Jacobs to death. And even if Nate deserved it, it was a horrible thing to do.” Lexi’s thoughts turn existential. She thinks about “how she’s always been so passive, how she never had the courage to say anything.” We see flashbacks of her dad sneaking out of their house and watching Rue do drugs. She decides she’s going to take control of her life, and that means biking off gloriously to go see Fez. Yes!

Like everyone else, I want Lexi to have something for herself this season. She’s constantly living in the shadow of her older sister Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) and often on the sidelines of her best friend, Rue (Zendaya). And I’ll be damned, I think she might just end up with the hottest man on the show! Have I ever shipped a couple so hard? Like everything in Euphoria, it won’t be easy, but this might just foreshadow what’s in store for Lexi this season if she decides to stop sitting on the sidelines.

As Lexi hops off her bike at Fez’s store, he smiles, they’re all cute, and I’m blushing again, until she sees Faye — the girlfriend of another dealer — and her face drops. She’s only there because Fez is letting her crash at his place while she avoids the cops. I wish I could tell this to Lexi. I want to yell, He likes you. He doesn’t like her! Instead, Lexi looks between Fez and Faye. “Are you two …?” she asks. “Yeah, no, she’s just staying with me for a bit,” Fez says. It’s a bad answer. Lexi looks away and says she’s just there for a drink as my heart drops. Then Nate’s dad shows up with a gun and makes a ruined moment even worse. Only in Euphoria.

All I can pray for now is that Fez stays alive and I can finish this headline next week with “K-I-S-S-I-N-G.”
