Sofia Carson Shares Empowering New Single ‘LOUD’

On her latest single “LOUD,” pop singer Sofia Carson is breaking through the silence. A blended amalgamation of pop and R&B, the daysof1993-produced record, which was written with Alida Garpestad Peck and Paris Carney, encourages unapologetic confidence and empowerment.

“From the bottom of my heart, this song is dedicated to YOU,” Carson said of the song in a statement. “The women of the world and all the LOUD voices of change. Because we were all: Made to Be LOUD.”

“LOUD” arrives with a metaphoric music video directed by Uri Schutzer in which Carson undergoes a freeing transformation as a butterfly emerging from its cocoon. Through choreography crafted by Avihai Haham, the progression of movements in the visual tells a story of a once silenced voice finding its volume knob for the first time and turning it all the way up.

“If I was a man then you would understand / You wouldn’t say I’m causing all this drama / Are you getting uncomfortable now? / I’m a little too loud for you now / Don’t try to calm me down / I was made to be loud,” Carson sings.

Shared through Hollywood Records, “LOUD” marks Carson’s first release of the year and her latest since sharing “He Loves Me, But…” last summer. It followed the fiery single “Fool’s Gold” and the Leave Your Heart on the Dance Floor compilation which featured remixes of the track as well as “I Luv U” and “Guess I’m A Liar” from Tiësto, R3HAB, and Tracy Young, respectively.

The multi-hyphenate artist, best known for her work as an actress on Disney’s film phenomenon Descendants and the Freeform series Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, has used her music career to explore a pop expanse with Grammy-award winning collaborators Stargate, Oak Felder, Max Martin, Justin Tranter and J Balvin.

New music Fridays are a thrilling, yet daunting prospect for any music lover.

It’s essentially a weekly holiday where fan-favorite artists and fresh faces alike drop their latest offerings for all the world to hear, flooding streaming services and digital retailers with an onslaught of aural goodies (and if we’re being honest, usually a few stinkers, too). But who has the time to sit there and listen to everything before updating their playlists?

As it turns out, we do. Welcome to The MixtapE!

Country music icons never work just 9 to 5.

Just ask superstar Dolly Parton, who announced the upcoming release of her latest album, Run, Rose, Run. Featuring a new song titled “Big Dreams and Faded Jeans,” the body of music is the companion project to an original novel co-written by the singer and James Patterson.

If that news wasn’t sweet enough, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams announced the return of Dolly’s Strawberry Pretzel Pie flavor in celebration of the new album.

New Music Friday: the biggest releases from Camilo, Farina, Don Omar, and more

img]

Every Friday, we highlight the newest and most exciting releases from artists across all genres. This week, we got a ton of new music from artists we hear from all the time, along with those we’ve been waiting for new music from inclucing Don Omar, Sebatián Yatra, and more.

Check out some of the most highly-anticipated drops down below:

  1. Winsin, Camilo, Los Legendarios - “Buenos Días”

Puerto Rican rapper, singer-songwriter, and producer Wisin teams up with award-winning Colombian singer-songwriter Camilo and the renowned production team of Los Legendarios to treat us to their refreshing new single: “Buenos Días.”

Their first collaboration perfectly blends the signature sounds of the two singers, with Camilo delivering another standout vocal performance while Wisin raps and sings in his inimitable style.

  1. Farruko feat. White Star - “Embalao”

Farruko is taking 2022 to the club with the video for “Embalao” feat. White Star, a track off of his critically acclaimed album, LA 167.

“Embalao” means to maintain the perfect buzz, and Farruko, White Star and producer J. Cross do just that with this song as they remind you to live like it’s your last night on earth over a thumping house beat.

  1. Don Omar - “Sincero”

Following the success of “Flow HP” and “Se menea,” Don Omar has released his third single, “Sincero” along with an accompanying music video.

“This song tells the story of a man who is vulnerable when he loses his partner, and she does not give him hope to come back,” Don Omar says about the track. “When one goes through a situation of heartbreak, it is when we are most susceptible, and we do not mind openly showing our feelings to let that person know how much we need them.”

Netflix Losing Major Franchise Starting This Month

Friendship may be magic, but for fans of the My Little Pony franchise, streaming certain series and movies within said franchise may not be. Netflix is losing the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series as well as a few films beginning this month with three of the specials having already been removed from the streaming platform as of January 1st.

According to What’s on Netflix, three My Little Pony specials were removed from Netflix as of January 1st. The specials in question are My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Forgotten Friendship (2018), My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rollercoaster of Friendship (2018) and My Little Pony Friendship is Magic: Best Gift Ever (2018). The big removal, however, will be coming on February 1st. At that time, all eight seasons of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic will leave the streaming platform. The last day to watch will be January 31st so if you were hoping to catch the series, now’s the time to binge.

In total, that’s a lot of My Little Pony content leaving Netflix, but fans of the franchise might want to keep a few things in mind. First, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has been removed from Netflix before. Back in August 2018, the series was set to be removed entirely, though only several seasons were removed before they were all added back so this removal may itself also not be permanent. Additionally, 2021’s My Little Pony: A New Generation will remain on the streamer for the foreseeable future.

My Little Pony: A New Generation stars Vanessa Hudgens (Sunny), Kimiko Glenn (Izzy), James Marsden (Hitch), Sofia Carson (Pipp), and Liza Koshy (Zipp). Additional voice cast members include Ken Jeong (Sprout), Elizabeth Perkins (Phyllis), Jane Krakowski (Queen Haven), Phil LaMarr (Alphabittle), and Michael McKean (Argyle). The film is directed by Robert Cullen, José L. Ucha, and co-directed by Mark Fattibene. The film’s story creators are Robert Cullen & José L. Ucha, and Tim Sullivan, and the screenplay was written by Sullivan and Gillian Berrow. Cecil Kramer and Peter Lewis produced the film. You can check out it’s official synopsis for yourself below.

“The unimaginable has happened…Equestria has lost its magic! Earth Ponies, Unicorns, and Pegasi are no longer friends and now live separated by species. But idealistic Earth Pony Sunny (Vanessa Hudgens) is determined to find a way to bring enchantment and unity back to their world. Teaming up with open-hearted Unicorn Izzy (Kimiko Glenn), the pair travel to faraway lands where they encounter the likes of charismatic and brave Pegasi Pipp (Sofia Carson) and Zipp (Liza Koshy) and the ever-responsible fellow Earth Pony Hitch (James Marsden). Their mission is full of misadventures, but these new best friends each possess their own unique and special gifts that may be just what this ponyverse needs to restore magic and prove that even little ponies can make a big difference.”
