Ray Donovan Season 8: Will it be renewed or is it officially cancelled?
]
Ray Donovan is a fascinating cerebral journey that changes between moods and tones with ease. Ann Biderman, who also got the programme to Showtime, conceived it. The narrative is focused on Ray Donovan, a professional “fixer” who organises evidence tampering, threats, bribes, payoffs, and other illegal activities for high-profile clients.
Ray is very good at what he does because he is meticulous and exact. His wife and brother have a tough relationship, and he prefers spending time with his children. Trouble comes knocking at the door as Ray’s villainous father is prematurely released from jail.
Since its premiere, the show has aired seven seasons. The audience and critics alike have lauded the play for its intriguing concept and great performances by Live Schreiber and Jon Voight.
Viewers want to see Ray and his family again after the Season 7 cliffhanger, as speculations swirl over whether or not the home network would bring the show back.
What is the Ray Donovan about?
Ray Donovan is an American crime drama series that premiered on June 30, 2013. This Showtime series, created by Ann Biderman, has been such a smash for the network that no one has been able to match it.
Ray Donovan is one of Showtime’s most popular shows, with excellent reviews and record-breaking viewership since its debut. Ray Donovan, played by Liev Schreiber, is a professional participant in the unlawful manipulation of things that will result in some great entertainment.
The showrunners have provided us with action and entertainment for the past seven seasons. Season 7 of the sitcom is planned to premiere in 2020, and fans are eager to see what the next season has in store for them. When the programme first aired, we saw the same original characters returning to the game and extending the criminal world’s game.
Ray Donovan Season 8: Will It Be Renewed Or Cancelled?
Ray Donovan Season 7 debuted on November 17, 2019, and ran through January 19, 2020. Since of the series’ crucial circumstances, and because the show’s writers have hinted at the potential of a ninth season,
It’s also worth mentioning that the show’s creators have been talking about a second season. Unfortunately, people who have been anticipating the eighth season have nothing to look forward to.
Ray Donovan will not be renewed after Season 8 was officially cancelled by the show’s creators.
Why was Ray Donovan Season 8 cancelled?
When the news of the show’s cancellation broke, viewers were taken aback since they had great hopes for it. Viewers were clamouring for a new season after being dissatisfied with the last one.
The wrath and displeasure of the audience created a lot of discussions. Fans have been asking for a follow-up series. Twitter has been inundated with Season 8-related tweets. After learning of the series’ cancellation, outraged viewers took to social media to vent their frustrations.
“We had no notion that the programme was ending,” David Hollander stated of the confirmation of a real termination.
He has stated that Season 8 has a probability of happening. We were acting as though we were in the middle of a sentence, he claimed. It was evident that there would never be a conclusion. “This was not the final instalment in the series.”
Season 8 of Ray Donovan has been a long time coming for dedicated fans. After the show was discontinued in 2020, fans have been attempting for years to get a fresh chapter.
The long wait for the audience seemed to have finally paid off. Fans have been begging for a second season, and the makers of the programme have responded positively.
Ray Donavan Plot
Season 7 of Ray Donovan concludes with the Donovan family confronting their traumatic past and preparing for an uncertain future in the shadow of the Sullivans.
Ray wreaks havoc on the Sullivan family’s wealth after discovering the truth about Bridget’s death. Smitty and Declan are murdered in a battle, and Daryll nearly murders his father, Mickey.
The last chapter is planned to start with events that occurred shortly after the seventh season ended. Angry Ray is on a mission to stop Mickey from doing any more harm.
To tie the tale together, the new feature film will follow the Donovan/Sullivan feud all the way back to Mickey’s origin story 20 years ago, shifting back and forth between historical reflections and current events.
Ray Donovan Season 8: Will there be a follow-up movie?
The showrunners chose to comment about the cancellation of Ray Donovan Season 8 after receiving a lot of backlashes. There were a number of problems that needed to be addressed by the creators when Season 7 finished on a shaky note, but they couldn’t. Fans chastised the show’s writers for not concluding the series with a satisfying conclusion as soon as it aired. The wrath and anger were among the factors that aided the show’s recovery. Season 8 has already been cancelled, thus a sequel is in the works.
Officials had confirmed that Ray Donovan would return with the film which premiers next Friday on Showtime. This has definitely got fans excited.
Eddie Marsan Discusses Reviving Ray Donovan, Female Fans, And Disability Representation - Exclusive Interview

One of my favorite Terry moments from “Ray Donovan” [Season 3, Episode 2] is when he is in prison, and everyone completely underestimates him and he just basically kills them all. I was like, “that’s what I want to see.”
Yeah, and it’s so funny. I’ve always been a character actor. I’ve never had a female fan base, but suddenly, when I played Terry, I suddenly had a female fan base, who really really loved Terry. They get quite disappointed when they meet me and they discover I’m not him.
The cast seems very close and you’ve all worked together for almost a decade. Was it difficult saying goodbye? I know you’ve hinted that it might not be goodbye, but how emotional was it?
It was quite emotional. On my last day, I was with Dash [Mihok] and Kerris [Dorsey] and yeah, it was very emotional. I think it’d been nine years and … I felt very proud. They are like family, it’s really weird. You become like a family, you do. I know that’s a cliché, but you really do become like a family and you grow up together. So yeah, it was very sad, but I don’t think it’s over. I look at this and think, if this is a success, if this two-hour film is a success, and people love it, they don’t need to do 12 episodes every year. They can do one film a year, and they’ve got to keep subscribers so I suspect they may well do it. I mean, they may not, but we’ll see. It depends on whether all of us are available.
What I’m watching this week: the debut of ‘Somebody Somewhere,’ a ‘Ray Donovan’ movie, new family dramas, and a superhero spinoff

Fans of “Ray Donovan” were disappointed when Showtime canceled the series without giving the writers a chance to wrap up the storyline. The cable channel finally gave in, and now we have “Ray Donovan: The Movie,” which premieres on Friday at 9 p.m. The movie will pick up after the season 7 finale back in 2020, with Liev Schreiber’s Donovan going after Jon Voight’s Mickey.

Bridget Everett and her big smile star in “Somebody Somewhere,” an endearing semi-autobiographical slice-of-life comedy produced by the Duplass brothers. It’s a little bit like the droll “Baskets,” as our grieving heroine finds her singing voice and connects with a group of outsider friends in small-town Kansas. The premiere is Sunday, Jan. 16, at 10:30 p.m. on HBO.

Janine Sherman Barrois of “Claws” has a soapy new drama series premiering Tuesday at 8 p.m. on OWN. Called “The Kings of Napa,” it’s about a Black family with a huge wine business in California. A little like “Succession,” the children vie for control when the patriarch exits the company. Ebonée Noel, Rance Nix, Isiah Whitlock Jr., and Karen LeBlanc star.
-
Peacock is premiering a new six-part series on Thursday, and I’m not particularly clear on what it’s about. Isla Fisher and Josh Gad star as Gary and Mary in “Wolf Like Me,” and the press information says: “Gary is an emotional wreck and struggles to provide for his daughter since the death of his wife. Mary has a secret she can’t bring herself to share with anyone.” Judging by the title, I’m thinking Mary is — shhh — a werewolf.
-
Every month now, it seems, a new superhero series arrives. This month’s is the eight-episode spinoff of the DC movie “The Suicide Squad,” with John Cena reprising his role as “Peacemaker.” The movie’s writer-director, James Gunn, is behind the action-adventure origin story, which premieres Thursday on HBO Max. The cast includes Steve Agee, Jennifer Holland, Danielle Brooks, and Robert Patrick.
