A Providence man died Sunday after a fire broke out in a Manton apartment building.
Firefighters arrived at Hillcrest Village Apartments around 1 a.m. in response to a 911 call reporting a fire, which had activated the building’s sprinkler system.
A man in his 60s was found unresponsive. He died hours later.
“Fire pulled him out, did CPR on the way to the hospital, and then while at the hospital he was pronounced dead because of smoke inhalation,” Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Dolan said.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. On Monday, Dolan said an investigator was on the scene.

Paul Carter Harrison, a playwright and theatrical scholar whose work was a staple in the Black community, has died. He was 85.
In a statement to the New York Times, Paul’s daughter, Fonteyn Harrison, confirmed that he died on Dec. 27 at a retirement home in Atlanta, Georgia.
Fonteyn did not provide a cause of death for her father to the outlet.
“We cannot express more the utmost respect and affection he had from many people in the U.S. and across the oceans, as a writer, award-winning director, teacher, colleague and friend,” Paul’s family said in a statement obtained by WSB-TV 2. “For the family he was the Pater Familia.”

Born in New York City on March 1, 1936, Paul grew up falling in love with theater and later enrolled at New York University, according to the Times. After realizing, however, that he wanted to follow a career in psychology, he transferred to Indiana University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree.
Paul then found his way back to New York and obtained a doctorate in psychology at the New School for Social Research. But, after rediscovering his love of theater, he took a year off to write, the outlet added. In his travels, Paul met actress Ria Vroemen, whom he married in 1963 before they separated in 1968.
When he returned to the United States that same year, Paul taught theater at Howard University in Washington, D.C., before later teaching at California State University, Sacramento, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Columbia College Chicago, where he remained until his retirement.

Throughout the years, Paul also worked on projects that included books, essays and plays, which, according to the Times, “provided a theoretical structure for the Black performing arts.” In his works, Paul would utilize African ritual and myth, the outlet noted.
Paul’s play, The Great MacDaddy, even won him an Obie Award — a prestigious achievement given to theatre artists and groups in New York City.
Baby names predicted to be big in 2022

Choosing a baby name for a tiny human is a big responsibility. While some parents opt for traditional family monikers passed down through generations, others are taking inspiration from alternative sources.
To help parents-to-be strike a balance between unusual and on-trend, the experts at BabyCentre UK have pulled together their prediction of the baby naming trends which look set to shape the pre-school registers in 2022 and beyond.
From favourite characters starring in binge-worthy box sets, to seeking inspo from the royals, football stars and the return of Glastonbury, it seems mums and dads-to-be will be thinking outside the baby naming box this year.
Baby name trends 2022
Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
While royal baby names are perennial picks for parents-to-be, this year could see a particular spike in the popularity of regal monikers, thanks to the celebrations surrounding the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
“As the Queen plans to celebrate her 70th year on the throne, we believe some royal names will see a resurgence this year,” explains Sarah Redshaw, managing editor for BabyCentre UK.
The names the baby bods predict will be particularly popular include Elizabeth, Betty, Eliza, Elsbeth and possibly a few Lilibets.
Mini Marcus, et al
Having already seen a trend for names inspired by England’s men’s football team in the 2021 chart following their Euro success in 2021, Redshaw predicts this craze could continue when the World Cup kicks off in November 2022.
The name Marcus (Rashford) witnessed a rise in popularity and experts believe new players joining the squad since the Euros could be further sources of inspiration to parents.
“New to the England fold at the end of last year, Connor (Gallagher) and Aaron (Ramsdale) are both up outside the top 100,” she explains.

Return of Glastonbury
After two years of cancellations because of COVID restrictions, the hugely popular Glastonbury festival is set to return this year and it could provide some name-spo to mums and dads-to-be.

“Billie (Eilish) has been announced as a headliner, so parents may be inspired by the feel-good festival,” Redshaw explains.

Encanto and co
As well as fuelling a whole swathe of kids continually busting out the lyrics from the soundtrack, Encanto, which was the most-viewed title on the Disney+ streaming service in the first two weeks after its December release online, is also predicted to have an impact on baby names this year.
“Could we see a rise for Mirabel, the name of the main character?” Redshaw asks.
Last year there was an uptick in babies named after characters in Disney, Marvel and DC Comics and Redshaw says the popular flicks could well provide naming inspiration for 2022.
Babycentre said parents were particularly influenced by binge-worthy content watched during lockdown, with superhero names sent flying up the registrations in 2021 as the Marvel and DC franchises dominated film and TV.
Even Marvel itself made its mark as the number of baby boys named after the franchise quadrupled. Loki doubled in registrations outside the top 100 while Loki TV series character Sylvie climbed in the girls’ rankings.

Old-fashioned names
Old-fashioned baby names have been having quite the moment of late, with many parents opting to give their babies monikers which nod to eras gone by.
And according to the experts, this trend looks set to continue into 2022 and beyond.
“We’ve seen a huge rise in traffic on our old-fashioned names article, it’s increased 115% in 2021 compared to 2020,” explains Redshaw.

Imposters ’ Parker Young Married Longtime Love Stephanie Weber in Intimate Ceremony: ‘Amazing Day’
]
Parker Young
Parker Young
After 16 years together, Parker Young and his longtime love, Stephanie Weber, recently took a big step forward in their relationship.
PEOPLE can exclusively reveal that Young and Weber quietly wed in September 2021 in a private backyard ceremony held at their California home.
The 33-year-old actor’s United States of Al costar Adhir Kalyan officiated the intimate ceremony, which commenced on Weber’s birthday.
The two high school sweethearts previously got engaged in March 2018 and later welcomed their daughter, Jaxon Orion, that July.
Ahead of the big day, Young wanted the romantic occasion to be a “surprise” his wife “would never forget.”
“We’ve been together for 16 years — since we were kids,” the actor tells PEOPLE. “I think when couples have been together for as long as we have it can be easy to get complacent and let the spark can fade. It’s important to keep things exciting.”
In planning the pair’s low-key nuptials, Young says he “never had any doubts” how Weber would react to the concept of a surprise wedding.

“We never really cared to have a fancy, showy, expensive wedding,” the Imposters alum says. “All we need is each other. That’s all we’ve ever needed. We committed our lives to each other long ago, so really this was just semantics.”
Weber admits she was “absolutely in shock” by Young’s surprise wedding plans.
“It was my birthday and I’m in, basically, PJs and no makeup. Parker keeps asking me to get ready and I’m like, ‘Why? We have no plans!’” she recalls. “And so Jaxon, our daughter, comes up to me and says ‘Mommy, put mascara on,’ which is pretty common for her to say. She loves when I have mascara on. I didn’t think anything of it and put some mascara on. Then a few mins later she comes in and asks me to put my birthday dress on. At this point, I’m like, ‘Okay, something fishy is going on.’ But never did I think we were going to get married!”

She continues, “Shortly after I get my birthday dress on, the doorbell rings and I’m like, ‘Who is this?’ I open the door and a man in a suit and briefcase is standing there and I was a bit confused but immediately started crying, and said to Parker, ‘Is he here to marry us?’”
From there, Weber says the pair began “filling out the papers and signing Parker’s life away” as well as her maiden name.
“The doorbell rings again and I’m thinking maybe family is here. I opened the door and its Adhir, Parker’s costar from U.S. of Al,” she continues. “I’m like, ‘WTF,’ at this point. He says, ‘I’m going to officiate your wedding.’ And of course, I started crying again. At this point, it feels like a dream. Literally, the man that I have been together with for 15 years is finally caving in and giving me my daughter’s last name.”

“So we go out in our backyard and we have a mini ceremony with just Jaxon, [our dog] Stella and our babysitter, who just showed up for her shift and was also very confused,” she adds. “I guess she was our witness.”
For Young, “the commitment two people make to each other” is “what matters most” to him.
“I had already made that commitment to Stephanie almost two decades ago when I met her in high school and asked her to be my girlfriend,” says Young. “We didn’t need any paperwork or documents to solidify our commitment or some grandiose event to make it official. I found my soul mate long ago and we determined to walk this life together hand in hand. Maybe one day we’ll throw a big party to celebrate, but until then we’re officially married!”

The small gathering “was perfect,” says Weber.
“I’ve always wanted to elope and just go to the courthouse and get married. But to be doing it with my little family and with Adhir officiating it in our backyard, I couldn’t have asked for a better way to get married,” she adds. “With that said, I’d still like to have a bachelorette party and a big party — or a mini wedding — to celebrate. But I’m just waiting for this COVID nightmare to subside a little.”
And the ceremony went better than Young could have imagined as well.
“We had the most amazing day — just us and our daughter,” Young concludes. “It was certainly a moment that we will cherish and remember for the rest of our lives.
