Who is Patrick Mahomes’ brother? Meet Jackson Mahomes, the controversial TikTok star
]
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is attempting to reach his third consecutive Super Bowl this season. But Patrick isn’t the only Mahomes making headlines.
Patrick’s younger brother, 21-year-old Jackson, has become quite the celebrity himself, but not always for good reasons. What started out as a silly, sometimes funny TikTok career has turned into a sometimes controversial path for Jackson.
While Jackson still makes TikToks, the short videos tend to be embedded in stories in which Jackson made some sort of mistake.
The younger Mahomes has almost one million TikTok followers, with over 35 million likes.
Here’s how Jackson’s career got here.

How did Jackson Mahomes get famous?
Jackson reached popularity during the Chiefs’ 2020 Super Bowl run due to the number of TikToks he posted while at games. Often times, Jackson would stand on the sidelines and do viral TikTok dances before or after the game.
Jackson often pairs up with Mahomes’ fiance Brittany Matthews for his videos. The two stand on the sidelines during various games.
Controversial incidents
Jackson has become quite the controversial figure this season specifically. Here’s a timeline of some of those big moments where Mahomes made headlines.
September 2021 — Water bottle
After the Chiefs’ 36-35 loss to the Ravens in September, Ravens fans near Jackson were egging him on, saying they were sorry for his loss, etc. Jackson then poured water from a bottle on these fans — on video, of course.

Patrick later talked about the incident saying there was a lot of pieces missing from the story. The mayor of Kansas City, Quinton Lucas, even tweeted about it, saying “Leave Jackson Mahomes alone.”

October 2021 — Dancing on Sean Taylor’s number
The Washington Football Team retired the late Sean Taylor’s No. 21 on the same day that the Chiefs played them. The All-Pro safety was shot and killed at age 24 in November 2007.
Jackson posted his routine TikTok dance that day, but it happened to be on Taylor’s number, which was painted on the sidelines. .

Jackson later issued an apology saying that the Mahomes crew was designated to stand in that area. Regardless of the reason, fans still did not appreciate the TikTok.

December 2021 — Kansas City restaurant incident
After Mahomes and some of his friends went to a local Kansas City restaurant called SoT, he posted a long rant to social media about how terrible the service was. He later deleted the post.
But SoT’s response went viral as they expressed that they would “survive his ego.” They later took down their original response, too.

NFL Fans Rooting for Bills Over Chiefs Because of Patrick Mahomes’ Brother
]
Due to the fact that there are only eight NFL teams remaining in the postseason, some fans of the other 24 teams are rooting for one of the half-dozen Super Bowl contenders.
There are plenty of fans that have joined Chiefs Kingdom late in the season to root for the Kansas City Chiefs as they attempt to make a third-straight Super Bowl. However, there are others opting to root for the Buffalo Bills, who the Chiefs will face in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
The Bills are a great football team, but their talent level isn’t necessarily why some fans are choosing to root for Buffalo. Instead, it’s because of someone in relation to the Chiefs that those fans dislike strongly.

Bills Over Chiefs Because of Jackson Mahomes
There are many NFL fans that have taken to Twitter to explain that they are rooting for Buffalo to beat Kansas City for one reason and one reason only: they don’t like Patrick Mahomes’ brother, Jackson.
“Big @BuffaloBills guy solely because my strong dislike of Jackson Mahomes,” Too Many Honey Buns Joe wrote.

Jackson Bashed for Recent Antics
Jackson fell victim to a lot of backlash on social media in December following an incident at a Kansas City bar.
In now-deleted social media posts, Jackson said he had a terrible experience at a downtown Kansas City business called SoT, a cocktail bar on Grand Boulevard.
After sharing his alleged poor experience at SoT with his social media following — which is around 255,000 on his Instagram account as of the writing of this — the Kansas City bar began receiving a lot of activity on social media regarding the incident with Jackson.
So, SoT decided to clap back at the star quarterback’s brother for his, as they put it, “sense of entitlement” in a since-deleted statement.
“We are sorry that we set boundaries that you tried to ignore. Often times people with un-earned status and a sense of entitlement think they are above the rules and will lash out at the employee enforcing them,” part of SoT’s Facebook and Instagram post to Mahomes says.
“We are sorry we could not seat your very large group. As you probably saw, our bar is very small.
“We are sorry that you have the reach that you do, or at least that you think you do and that instead of using it for something positive you decided to use it to try and crush a small business.
“We survived a global pandemic, we’ll survive your ego.”

However, SoT has since released another, more heartfelt apology on its Instagram page on Thursday, December 16.
The bar said, in part, “Out of all the ways this situation could have been handled, we did it the wrong way. We want everyone to know that we acknowledge our shortcomings in this situation.”
TikTok Video at FedEx Field
On October 17 when Kansas City faced Washington, Jackson made a TikTok video of himself dancing on the sideline at FedExField, which happened to be right on top of a newly-added memorial logo for the late Sean Taylor, a former safety for Washington that was killed in 2007 during an attempted burglary of his home.

Jackson, who has upwards of one million followers on TikTok, took to Twitter following the game to apologize for dancing on Taylor’s memorial logo, which he claimed was accidental.
“I want to sincerely apologize for accidentally being on the Sean Taylor #21 at FedEx Field,” he wrote. “We were directed to stand in that area and I meant absolutely no disrespect to him or his family.”

However, the apology didn’t prevent criticism of the Chiefs star quarterback’s brother.
“I missed this from yesterday. One of the most disrespectful things I’ve seen in a long time,” wrote NFL reporter Dov Kleiman.

Patrick Mahomes told Joe Burrow his Chiefs-Bengals playoff matchup prediction in Week 17: ‘See y’all in the playoffs’
]
The Chiefs and Bengals are meeting for the second time this season, and this month, after the Bengals beat the Chiefs 34-31 on Jan. 2.
This time, Kansas City and Cincinnati will face in the AFC Championship. The Bengals haven’t reached this game since 1988, but this marks the Chiefs’ fourth consecutive appearance.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes expected to meet the Bengals in the playoffs this year. After Joe Burrow and the Bengals beat the Chiefs a few weeks ago, Mahomes told Burrow after the game that they will “see y’all in the playoffs.”

The 26-year-old Chiefs quarterback is in his fifth season, but 25-year-old Burrow is only in his second season with the Bengals. This will be the first time the two young quarterbacks are meeting in the playoffs, and it will only be the second time Mahomes and Burrow have played each other.
Ten of the 16 AFC teams have a starting quarterback that is 26 or younger. Crazy enough, Mahomes is one of the older AFC quarterbacks right now. Sunday’s AFC Championship game will continue to give fans a look into the future of the AFC.

Both quarterbacks have had two spectacular playoff performances each. Mahomes had 433 yards total (404 passing) with five touchdowns in the Chiefs’ wild-card win over the Steelers, and he finished with 447 total yards (378 passing) and three touchdowns in their divisional win against the Bills. Burrow only had 242 total yards with two touchdowns in their wild-card win over the Raiders. He had 353 yards total against the Titans, but finished with zero passing touchdowns.
However, Burrow outplayed Mahomes in their Week 17 matchup, throwing 446 yards and four touchdowns in the game. Mahomes had nearly 200 yards less than Burrow, finishing with 259 yards and two touchdowns.

Burrow will travel to Arrowhead Stadium for the first time in his career. Including the playoffs, the Bengals are 6-3 in away games this season, while the Chiefs are 9-2 at home. The last game at home the Chiefs lost was on Sept. 26 to the Chargers.
Patrick Mahomes’ Fiancée Receives Backlash After Postgame Video Goes Viral
]
Patrick Mahomes’ family really can’t catch a break.
Everyone was recently hating on Jackson Mahomes for his TikTok dance moves, and now the QB’s fiancee Brittany Matthews is receiving hate over a video of her celebrating after the Chiefs’ big win this Sunday.
The Kansas City Chiefs won their game Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, taking them one step closer to the Super Bowl. As an excited and supportive partner should, Matthews celebrated the big win after the game. After Jackson Mahomes posted a video of the celebration to his Instagram story and Matthews posted her own version of the video on her social media, she received a lot of backlash.

In the video, Matthews excitedly opens a bottle of champagne and proceeds to spray it over the Chiefs fans celebrating in the section below her, all while excitedly screaming, “let’s f***ing go!” It’s obviously all done in the spirit of winning the game and celebrating with the fans, but some people think she should be ashamed of her actions. They’re claiming that the fans would have been “drenched” in champagne and that there might have been kids in the crowd that could have ingested the alcohol.
One guy has even gone so far to say that he plans to get his legal team involved to try and prove what Matthews did was illegal because she was allegedly providing alcohol to minors.
Despite all the hate, there are still fans who are standing up for Matthews and combating the nasty comments she’s receiving. Many of them mention how the fans were actually cheering her on and encouraging her to spray the champagne in celebration. I also don’t see how anyone who is celebrating such a huge win for their team would be upset by the tiny sprinkle they might have felt.
People love to have something to hate, and for many people that don’t like the Chiefs, that means they target people like Matthews, who are simply supporting their family. What it seems like to me is a bunch of people are upset their team lost, so they feel like they have to take their anger out on someone who is obviously happier and more successful than them.

Edge Speed has Never Been More Important
]
The divisional round of the playoffs featured one of the great performances from the quarterback position anyone will ever see between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills, but neither defense was equipped to deal with the opposing quarterback.
Despite destiny putting the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills on a postseason collision course, neither defense was equipped to deal with the opposing quarterback. The sheer level the two were playing may have made it near impossible, but with so many quarterbacks in the AFC that can create and extend with their legs, neither team had a pass rushing threat with the speed to disrupt their timing.
After the 2020 season, the Cleveland Browns made the decision to release Adrian Clayborn, a designated pass rusher the team acquired because of his ability to win one on one matchups. He continued to defeat blocks as a member of the Browns, but he struggled to run down athletic quarterbacks. He looked like he was running in quicksand, muting any impact he might have made.
The Browns signed free agent pass rusher Takkarist McKinley to replace Clayborn. McKinley offered tremendous speed off the edge. His career had been disappointing, but that particular skill made him attractive to the Browns.
The Browns saw where the conference was heading. Allen, Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert, Joe Burrow all stand in their way if they want to get to the Super Bowl, let alone win it. All of them are capable of making game winning throws, but that game changing mobility made it necessary to get someone that could come off the edge and at least make them nervous, force them to make quicker decisions.
Fly off the edge on the side of the quarterback’s throwing arm and try to limit their ability to roll to that side. Attack from the back side and have the necessary speed to threaten the quarterback’s blind side if they try to slow down and scan the field.
The Browns didn’t stop with McKinley. They selected Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The Browns rarely blitzed him this season, but his range was valuable in defending quarterbacks once they crossed the line of scrimmage, discouraging some from trying.
The Bills had the top defense in the league in 2021, but they didn’t have a single player that could scare Mahomes with speed near the line of scrimmage. Drafting Gregory Rousseau and Carlos Basham in the first two rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft may have bolstered their defensive line overall, but didn’t offer much help in defending Mahomes.
The Chiefs didn’t have much to defend Allen either. They were able to acquire Melvin Ingram at the trade deadline in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers and he made an impact on the game, but even that only went so far against Allen. The fact Allen is the fully evolved form of Cam Newton only adds to the difficulty of defending him.
Both quarterbacks were operating at the peak of their powers, but it’s difficult to imagine that someone that could threaten them with speed wouldn’t have made a difference. It’s a massive oversight for two teams that can expect to see each other on an almost annual basis with their seasons on the line.
With McKinley suffering a torn Achilles’ at the end of the season, all but wiping out his 2022 season, look for the Browns to find another avenue to address this area.
One player that may benefit from Sunday’s quarterbacking masterpiece could be Michigan edge rusher David Ojabo. His speed and athleticism combined with a developing skill set profile as a player that can help to combat quarterbacks who can win with their legs as well as their arm.
Should he be available at 13th pick, it wouldn’t be a surprise for the Browns to pull the trigger, adding him to the fearsome duo of Myles Garrett and pending free agent Jadeveon Clowney, giving them one of the more feared, diverse pass rushing attacks the league has to offer.
Two other teams that stand out as potential landing spots for Ojabo are the New York Jets, who have two top ten picks and face the Buffalo Bills twice per season as well as the Denver Broncos, who are at least slated to pick 11th. Everything with the Broncos will depend on their ability to acquire a quarterback this offseason, but a team that sees both Mahomes and Herbert twice per season will likely be in the market for a speedy edge rusher.
Their linebackers and secondary were a catastrophe this past season but no defensive front is better equipped to defend every type of quarterback than the Pittsburgh Steelers. T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith on the outside with Cameron Heyward and Stephon Tuitt (injured much of the season) on the interior. No matter the quarterback, that front is a nightmare.
With so many quarterbacks who can take over the game with their legs as well as their arm, it’s critical teams adapt ways to defend them. Everyone doesn’t get to have a T.J. Watt, Micah Parsons or Devin White, but they must at least have the option to bring speed into the game in an attempt to generate pressure and disrupt these passing offenses.
